We invite you to join us for the 21 days between January 7-27, 2019 as we seek the Lord to prepare our hearts for all He is wanting to accomplish in and through our lives, our church and our community in the year ahead. Below you will find all the necessary information on how you can be involved. If you have any questions, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Take a moment to download the YouVersion Bible App on your smart device. This is where you will be able to find the 21-day reading plan along with the daily prayer emphasis. Download the Bible App by clicking here.
During our 21 days of Prayer and Fasting we will be following this reading plan together. You will find a daily devotional along with scripture readings and prayer emphases. Once you have downloaded the Bible App, click here to see our 21 days of Prayer Reading Plan.
From January 7 - 27 we will gather on weekdays on Facebook Live at 12:15pm and pray collectively as a church. One of our staff members will lead this time of prayer.
We will also have prayer gatherings in the main auditorium on Sunday evenings (January 13th, 20th, & 27th). These prayer gatherings will begin at 6pm and last about 1 hour.
We encourage you to prioritize prayer during these 21 days and set aside time daily. In addition to following along with the reading plan, we are including tips for how to pray. We realize that sometimes praying can be challenging because we don't know what to pray or we get in a rush. Jesus offers a framework that can guide our prayers in Psalm 23.
First, read the Lord’s Prayer found in Matthew 6:9-13, then use the following outline to guide your prayers.
SIX PARTS OF PRAYER
1. Praise: Begin by expressing your love to God (Matthew 6:9)
“Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name.”
2. Purpose: Commit yourself to God’s purpose and will for your life (Matthew 6:10)
“Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.”
3. Provision: Ask God to provide for your needs. (Matthew 6:11)
“Give us today our daily bread.”
4. Pardon: Ask God to forgive your sins (Matthew 6:12)
“And forgive us our sins…”
5. People: Pray for other people (Matthew 6:12)
“…as we have forgiven those who sin against us.”
6. Protection: Ask for spiritual protection (Matthew 6:13)
“And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.”
In addition to this time of prayer, we would love for you to join us in fasting over the next 21 days! Whether you decide to give up a certain type of food or take a break from social media, this form of self-denial, when used to focus on prayer, will align your heart with the heart of God.
Please remember that every person is different and you should only choose what is a healthy and safe choice for you.
